Throne of Glass | Sarah J. Maas

What do you notice about the writing - the way the author wrote? (For example: Is it descriptive, persuasive? Does it include figurative language?). The writing in this book is very descriptive and uses unique and advanced terminology. The way the author describes the characters, actions, situations and settings are very descriptive. The author is very specific and detailed when describing Celaena's thoughts.

Fiction: *focus on Character*: Which character taught you the most? What did they teach you? The character that taught me the most in the story was Celaena. She's a very empowered woman who fought against 23 men for a championship. She taught me that despite your physical traits or gender, that you are not entitled to standards or stereotypes. Despite her bad physical state, she sacrifices herself continuously for everyone's own good.

Fic: The lesson this plot in the book teaches about life that you are always changing. The people around you will change and leave, while some stay. The experiences in your life both have good and bad outcomes. Life is not easy, if anything it gets harder, but the good experiences and people that you bring with you, make it a little bit easier to get through. The character is always determined, hardworking and hopeful. We should all be like that.

Fiction: Yes, one of the characters of the book I am reading (Throne of Glass) reminds me of one of my aunts. The character that reminds me bits and pieces of her is named, Celaena Sardothien. They are both very realistic people with intimidating personalities, but are both hardworking. This helps me want to understand the main character more in depth and get to know her to make connections with my aunt.

I chose this book because it's the continuation of the first book in the infernal devices series, clockwork angel.
After the events in clockwork angel, Tessa has found her real home; in the downworld as a shadowhunter. But Magister, obviously won't let that happen. Magister wants Tessa's power for his own benefit, and nothing's gonna stop him unless Tessa and her two friends help her.

The reason I chose this book is because, it gives a back story before the Mortal Instruments and Dark Artifices series. It's set in an older version of the downworld which interested me.
Tessa Gray flies from New York all the way to London to find her brother. This was set in during the importance and reign of Queen Victoria. She discovers the downworld, filled with supernatural people.

The reason I chose this book was because I've heard a lot about the impactful messages it has about racism, protesting and young black teens in this generation. I wanted to read it due to its point of views on those topics.
Starr Carter is in between her poor neighbourhood and wealthy school. Reality hits her when her bestfriend gets shot by a police officer. For once, she wants her voice to be heard.
